XV. Mistletoe

your life changed that day
under the great black tree

your sword felt heavy so you cast it away
the sword forged in folded blood

i watched you!

i saw you melt down your words
and tie them into lascivious knots

your words were iron once!

answer me, contemptible creature

as time passes on
and you hang helpless
by the weight of your actions
can you untie yourself
before your skies turn gray?

do you even remember how?

as the world finds you lacking
and flees from you
as your flesh does

when you have no fingers left to point
and your sight leaves you
and darkness returns

and you realize
that your only noble act
was how you fed the earth
just remember
that it was you
